Empowerment
Yabonga establishes projects which support active empowerment of underprivileged community members, predominantly women.
HIV positive people are not treated as victims, but as valuable and future citizens. The participants of the training programme are capable of teaching their peer groups about HIV issues, and can also pass on income generating and life skills.
The strengths of Yabonga's programmes are seen to rest on a number of interconnecting factors, including the commitment and professionalism of the people coordinating the programme in the field; the improvement in communication between staff; the consistent and effective monitoring and support element that Yabonga provides to the programme.
