On 9 August the opening of the new support centre in Kuyasa, Khayelitsha was finally happening. The Kuyasa team had been working within the clinic for some time already and was very excited to get their own ‘home’ at last. Khutala, the Team Leader was so proud that she would make sure that each guest had seen the brand new Wendy house also from the inside.
Amongst the 200 attendees was staff of the Kuyasa clinic, support group clients, Yabonga OVCs from surrounding areas as well as high ranked police officers from the station near by. All enjoyed the dance and singing performances of the Luvuyo and Kuyasa children and in between the professional DJ kept the crowd going. Beautiful, heart warming speeches were held by Ulpha Robertson, the Yabonga Director, and the Facility Manager Nontshumayelo Gxowa as well as a representative of Yabonga’s youth programme.
We wish the Kuyasa Team all of the very best in their new centre and hope the work they do will continue to be fruitful and have a positive impact on many many more lives in Kuyasa/Harare.
